Bones play many roles in the body — providing structure, protecting organs, anchoring muscles and storing calcium. While it's important to build strong and healthy bones during childhood and adolescence, you can take steps during adulthood to protect bone health, too.

Here are a few simple steps to prevent or slow bone loss -

  • Eat high-calcium food
  • Consume the required amount of proteins
  • Include strength training and weight bearing exercises in your routine
  • Make sure you get sufficient amount of Vitamin D & Vitamin K
  • Maintain a stable and healthy weight
  • Eat foods that are high in calcium and magnesium.
  • Do not forget to add a variety of vegetables in your diet
  • Avoid substance abuse
